        Intellectual Property Court plays an important role in judicial system

        The significant situation and functions of the Intellectual Property Court of Supreme People's Count (IPC) were described by Luo Dongchuan, vice-president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC), at a lecture at the National Judges College on Jan 7.


        The lecture is aimed to clarify future work of the IPC and improve judicial staffs' professional capacity.


        At the lecture, Luo said that judicial officers of all IP courts must fulfill their missions and judging methods, improvetrial capacity and innovate IP protection in the new era.


        He pointed out that the IPC plays an important role in deepening judicial reform, promoting judicial fairness and strengthening protection of intellectual property rights. It  also echoes the need of innovation-driven development and the creation of a sound and stable business environment.


        Luo stressed that the IPC must optimize the intellectual property judicial system and the trial capacity of the related judicial officers through pushing forward litigation system reform and improving court structure.


        He also urged strengthening of construction of smart courts and making full use of the advanced technology required to build a team of professional judges to deal with intellectual property-related cases.


        More than 170 trainees from the SPC's IPC, the high and intermediate courts' IP tribunals and IP courts of Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou attended the lecture.
