Justice He Rong, Executive Vice President of the Supreme People's Court of China (SPC), emphasized the importance of strengthening the judicial protection of intellectual property rights and fostering a market-oriented, rule-of-law and internationalized business environment during her visit to Guangdong Province on Nov 12.

Vice President He attended the National Court Symposium on Intellectual Property Adjudication and pointed out that the courts at various levels have been constantly improving the IP case trial system with remarkable achievements in serving the social and economic development and safeguarding the prevention and control of the pandemic in China.

At the conference, Vice President He called for the Chinese courts to properly handle the technology-related IP cases so as to protect core-technology innovation and strengthen the protection of copyrights and trademarks as well.

In addition, Vice President He also called for the Chinese courts to firmly punish IP-related criminal activities and adhere to judicial interpretations on protection of trade secrets so as to maintain law and order in the market.

Meanwhile, Vice President He encouraged the Chinese courts to make contributions to IP-related international governance and to provide Chinese wisdom on solving the issues regarding the same.

The conference came to the following conclusions that innovation shall be protected in an innovative way, the IP case trial system and judicial capacity shall be modernized, smart courts construction shall serve the purpose of one-stop diversified dispute resolution mechanism and a top-notch IP trial judge team shall be cultivated.

Vice President He also paid her visits to Guangzhou Internet Court, Shenzhen IP Tribunal and the First Circuit Court of the SPC plus certain high-tech enterprises to solicit their suggestions and opinions on judicial protection of IP.
